John Muir Children's University, located in

the Western Addition of San Francisco, is home to a very diverse culturally rich student body. As a professional development school and anchor for the San Francisco State University's Muir Alternative Teaching Program, John Muir brings teacher training

into the classroom, providing teacher training candidates

with both relevant experience and specially designed

courses adapted for the urban classroom.

John Muir is a BASRC (Bay Area School Reform Collaborative) leadership school. Our clear, focused effort is on literacy, with high standards in place for every child. We provide language/literacy education to our parents/families, beginning while

the children are infants.
